Our key stage 2 students have been enjoying trips to Drusilla's Park this term, to support their topic of 'All Creatures Great and Small'!

Our School

Hill Park School is a maintained specialist school, registered with the DFE for pupils aged 4 -16. All pupils attending the school have an EHCP.

The needs of our pupils range from Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD), Physical Disabilities, Autism (ASC), Moderate (MLD) or Severe Learning Disabilities (SLD). As a learning disability Hub we are not a school for pupils who have a primary need of Social Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH).

Formely known as Hillside School and Downs Park School, in September 2019 we merged to become Hill Park School, operating across two sites, a Primary site for pupils aged YR-Y6 and a Secondary site for students aged Y7-Y11. Both sites are on Foredown Road.

In September 2023 we opened a third site, The Hive, in Hollingdean, Brighton. The Hive Centre is a small  provision for autistic secondary age students who are at mainstream ability, but whose anxiety levels are high and for whom a mainstream secondary environment does not meet their needs.

The Primary site has 12 classes and the Secondary site has 13. Please see our Curriculum Framework document for a more detailed description of each site. The Hive has 5 classes, increasing to 6 in September 2024.

Although we are a generic specialist school we do not offer a generic model of teaching and learning  - please come and have a look round to see us in action!
